Hunt the Spearmen
Five spearmen must be defeated to unlock the crafting scroll for the spear. Make sure Asdo is with you when this happens. If he’s not around, your kills won’t be recorded.
The spearmen are near the gate and the lever on the west side of Hamlet. These foes are fast, and their range gives them the upper hand in open spaces. They only need two hits to down Aran, so timing your dodges is crucial. Use short combos instead of long ones. Heavy attacks take time and leave Aran exposed—use them only when you are certain it’s safe.
Gather Materials
Explore thoroughly. Break barrels, smash pots, and defeat nearby guards. You will need plenty of iron and wood. This step is as important as defeating the spearmen. Without enough raw materials, the Forge won’t offer much in terms of spear upgrades.
Create the Spear
Once you have the scroll and resources, rest at an Anvil and return to the Forge. Always go for the longest spear available with the highest base damage. Ignore concerns about stamina drain. You want to finish the fight quickly, not sustain a long one. A strong spear reduces the time the Troll has to recover or regenerate.

- The Troll has two full health bars.
- Small rooms and narrow paths are death traps. Fight in the open.
- Switch to a stance that favours wide swings. The spear hits harder when swung, not when thrust.
- Forget parrying. Focus on dodging. Most of its attacks are heavy and stagger Aran even when blocked.
- Use charged attacks—these deal the most damage. Time them after the Troll finishes a strike.
- Avoid its ranged vomit and excrement. Side dodges are your best defence.
When the yellow bar drops to zero, the Troll will attempt to cast Petrify. If it succeeds, the health bar fully replenishes. The moment it’s stunned, land a heavy headshot. This prevents regeneration and chops the head off.
Even without its head, the Troll continues fighting, swinging wildly. If it finds the head again, it begins to recover. You must act fast.
Arms can also be severed with focused strikes. Don’t expect it to slow down, though. It adapts quickly and becomes even more unpredictable when injured.
Once it falls, it stays down. This one doesn’t respawn.
