Well, it looks like Palworld tried its best, but PUBG is still the king of the paid games scene. Even after six years, PUBG’s all-time peak of 3.2 million players is holding strong, leaving Palworld in the dust. Among all the buzz about Palworld, the developers shared a screenshot showing:
“#Palworld has the highest concurrent player count of any paid game in the history of Steam! We can’t believe it! Thank you SO much to everyone. We really can not thank you enough. The team is hard at work making Palworld even better as we speak!”
This news fueled players’ excitement to a great extent, but, at the same time, some players started countering the claim. It’s an awesome achievement for Palworld to have 1M+ players in a short time as a paid game but PUBG already has the crown having the ‘highest concurrent player count of any paid game in the history of Steam‘. As a fan says: “Not technically true since PUBG hit 3.2 million concurrent back when it cost money. (It went F2P later)”.

While all this conversation was going on, Tom Warren, the senior editor of ‘The Verge’ reposted Palworld’s X post and publicly declared the claim as “this is false”: Here is what he said:
“while impressive, this is false. PUBG hit an all-time peak of 3.2 million six years ago when it was a paid game. It still maintains the record to this day”
PUBG’s record-breaking performance from back in the day is still the talk of the town, showing that when it comes to paid games, PUBG is the OG. Palworld’s got some catching up to do if it wants to dethrone the reigning champ. Well, only can say what happens!
