Several species will be appearing more often in the wild. Some of them offer potential shiny encounters too. Keep an eye out for:

  • Magikarp
  • Swablu
  • Wimpod
  • Wailmer
  • Foongus
  • Cutiefly
  • Dedenne
  • Rookidee
  • Nymble

Among these, Magikarp, Swablu, and Wimpod stand out for their increased shiny appearance rates. You may also come across XXS and XXL Pokemon more frequently during this time, which are tracked under special size classifications in your Pokedex.

Key Multipliers to Know

During the Pokemon GO Growing Up event, evolving Pokemon will grant you twice the normal XP. This is a great time to use your stored-up Pokemon for evolutions and stack your XP gains with a Lucky Egg.

Hatching Eggs will also be more rewarding than usual. Every time you hatch, you’ll receive twice the Candy. This bonus works especially well when combined with shorter hatch distances or Super Incubators.

Your Egg strategy matters during this event. Different Pokemon are tied to different Egg distances:

  • 2 km Eggs: Wimpod, Riolu, Happiny
  • 5 km Eggs: Mime Jr.
  • 10 km Eggs: Toxel

Hatching shiny versions of these is possible, but luck will play a major role. After the event, Toxel will still be available in 10 km Eggs, while others may rotate out.

Field Research

Event-specific Field Research tasks will offer bonus encounters with themed Pokemon. These tasks are usually simple, such as making certain throws or catching a type of Pokemon. Completing them gives you a steady stream of bonus rewards and additional chances for shiny Pokemon.
